Barbra Streisand is Hurt at Not Being Invited to the Clinton Global Initiative
NEW YORK Barbra Streisand is hurt at not being invited to the Clinton Global Initiative which took place in New York last week while world leaders were in town for the U.N. General Assembly meeting.
Clinton led leaders such as His Excellency President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom of the Maldives, the former President of Costa Rica, José Maria Figueres, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Begum Khaleda Zia, and King Abdullah, the boy king of Jordan, in a conference with the stated agenda of eradicating world poverty, eliminating religious conflict, stopping climate change and ensuring good government everywhere.
When asked about the enormity of the problems the Initiative was trying to address, Clinton said the goals of the conference were not too lofty.
"We have a whole three days," he said. "Plus I've added a fifth goal, and that is to nail the coat check girl."
Streisand, however, was extremely miffed.
"These are topics I know a lot about," said Ms. Streisand from her Beverly Hills swimming pool. "I had a lot of ideas to contribute, and I can't understand why he snubbed me!"
Speaker after speaker said that Bush had failed to solve these problems in three years, and that his pledge of $15 billion to combat AIDS in Africa was not enough.
"I know that's 30 times more than the $500 million that I allocated to AIDS while in office,' said Clinton, "but it's not enough."
The Reverend Jesse L. Jackson also attended, adding to the prestige of the event.
Vernon Jordan did not attend, but said that the coat check girl should be nailed.
