Message to New Orleans' Neighboring Communities: "˜Adopt a Looter'

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans officials have appealed to neighboring communities to take in their citizens as evacuees.

"Please adopt a looter," said New Orleans Mayor, Ray Nagin. "They are entrepreneurial people who are self-starters. They will quickly assimilate into your community and learn which are the good stores.

"They may ignore mandatory evacuation warnings and then demand rescuing, while stealing property and shooting at rescue medical teams, but they are good people!

"We hope they like your community so much that they will stay there!"
