Disney in Deep Pooh-Pooh Over Winnie the Pooh Royalties
Company is Accused of Having its Hand in the Cookie Jar
LOS ANGELES The Walt Disney Company has been sued by the heirs to the man who licensed to Disney the right to Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin, Tigger, Piglet and other characters created by A.A. Milne.
They claim that Disney cheated them on royalties on videos and software. Disney claims that videos and software are not covered by the license agreement, which was made in 1983. But now the judge in the Los Angeles case has ruled that Disney has destroyed thousands of documents related to the royalty records.
Tigger asked Winnie, "What's happening?" Winnie replied, "I don't know, Tigger, but have some honey. I've got some here in this jar labeled 'hunny.'"
Baby Roo started to cry, but Piglet said, "Be brave. Eeyore will know what to do."
"My tail just fell of," said Eeyore. Tigger immediately bounced on it. "That's what Tiggers do best," he said.
