Tiger Woods Crashed Car Because “I Left My Driver at Home”
ISLEWORTH, Florida, 2009-11-28 Tiger Woods has blamed his car crash on having left his driver at home.
According to police, Woods drove out of his driveway at 2:25 a.m. in a Cadillac SUV and crashed into a fire hydrant, and then hit a tree.
“I’ve been in the rough many times,” said Woods, “and trees don’t bother me. I have won tournaments after bouncing my balls off trees.”
Police said that Tiger’s wife, Elin, heard the crash, ran down the street and freed Woods from the vehicle by smashing the rear window with a golf club, pulled him out of the vehicle, and tended his wounds as he lay on the ground. Neighbors said that, after a nasty fight, Erin chased him down the street wielding the club, caused the crash, pulled him out of the vehicle, and hit him some more.
Asked for comment about an alleged tryst with nightclub hostess, Rachel Uchitel, at the Australian Masters in Melbourne, Australia in November, Wood's declined to comment but, in an interview at the time, Woods was quoted as saying, “I found the sweet spot today. It was a lay up. I was out of bounds, I know, but I took a slice, and got in the hole.”
