NEW YORK, 2009-11-19 Oprah Winfrey has announced that she will end The Oprah Winfrey Show after 25 years on TV, saying, like Sarah Palin, that "prayer and careful thought" led her to her decision.
There is speculation that, like Palin, Oprah may be planning a run for President.
Conservatives labeled Oprah as a quitter, but continued to defend Palin as not being a quitter. Liberals said Oprah was not a quitter, but that Palin was.
Oprah’s ratings declined after she endorsed Obama. Palin’s ratings declined after she ran against Obama.
But despite the eerie similarities, there are big money differences between the two women.
Political analysts said Palin most likely quit because legal fees for defending frivolous lawsuits against her were bankrupting her.
Media analysts said Oprah was closing her show to deny CBS further syndication money, and would start a similar show on her own network – which happens to be called the OWN Network – so as to make even more money.
